Hi everyone! I meant to send this recap out last week, but I’ve been heads down on a new project (in addition to all things Crown Affair). I truly cannot wait to share more soon — but here’s your little hint… :)
We also launched our second collaboration of the year — this time with the iconic Jennifer Fisher!

The older I get, the more I’m drawn to women who’ve been doing their thing for decades. JF is a force, to me she’s the ultimate non-gatekeeper, and collaborating on THE BIG CLIP was such a dream. Our clip, handmade in France, comes in a gorgeous, dynamic black acetate, beautifully curved for comfort on your head, and of course, features our double row of teeth to keep your hair in place all day and not create any damage or creases. I’ve been wearing it half-up, half-down nonstop. Obsessed.
On the Artist’s Way Front:
This is the point in the journey where the heat starts to turn up. Week 6 is a quicker one, and Week 7 is a chapter I return to often, even when I’m not actively doing The Artist’s Way. There’s so much in here about perfectionism and jealousy that I know hits for a lot of us.
A friend recently told me to pick up The Perfectionist’s Guide to Losing Control, so that’s what I’m reading right now… and wow, it’s hitting.
Speaking of perfectionism: this is usually the moment in your AW journey when it’s easiest to fall off. You miss a few Morning Pages, you skip an Artist Date, and suddenly the inner critic says, “Well, why keep going if it can’t be done fully?”
But there is no wrong way to do this!
0/7 Morning Pages? Skipped your Artist Date? It’s okay. We get back on the horse (and yes, I wrote a little something about the Year of the Horse and what we’re all feeling right now). A little reminder than everything is temporary and this season of doing TAW is temporary, too.
I urge you to keep carving out space and showing up for yourself. The power of consistency is at play now. This journey will be over soon — everything is seasonal. You’re in your Artist’s Way season. Stay with it.
Let’s wrap up Week 7 and get ready to kick off Week 8 in the chat tomorrow!
Some housekeeping on our Susbtack Live this week:
As a little reminder, I’m in San Francisco this week for my metaphorical Super Bowl: the Sephora Brand Summit. It’s a three-day gathering of founders and senior leaders from across Sephora — part conference, part reunion, part beauty world state of the union. It’s so fun.
This will be my fourth year attending. I look back at my first year and smile, thinking about how much I (and Crown Affair) have grown since then. I’m really grateful to the founders and mentors who’ve taken me under their wing over the years. Special shout-out to those who have been on the journey much longer than I and have opened up their worlds — Greg from Lore / Youth to the People, Carisa from Hourglass, Jen from OUAI / Mane, and so many others. It’s a beautiful thing to evolve and grow together in this ecosystem (each at our own stage), and I can’t wait to meet the next group of founders and operators coming in this year!
Because I’m at Brand Summit, I will not be going live this Tuesday, but instead on Friday, February 27th, at 6 pm ET / 3pm PT. I think my dear friend Erin Falter will be joining me. I’ll confirm details in our chat this week!!
Spending time with you all, hearing your reflections, and witnessing your creativity unfold feels like a gift in this season and I’m so grateful. Thank you for showing up from so many different locations and time zones.
Take care, and take your time, always,
Dianna
