In honor of Sephora's Holiday Savings Event I asked my go-to makeup artists what's in their carts.
Over the past two years, I’ve spent more time in Sephora than I have cumulatively over my entire life—and I’m not mad about it. Along the way, I’ve tested and explored hundreds of beauty products, from cult classics to the latest launches, and now I'm excited to share what I’ve learned.
With the Sephora Holiday Savings officially kicking off this weekend it felt like the perfect time to pull together some recommendations. Filling your cart can be equal parts exciting and overwhelming, so I gathered insights from a few of my trusted experts (especially when it comes to makeup) to help us navigate it all.
Let’s start with my go-to makeup artist in LA, Alison.
You know her as the one who makes me look about 10,000x better than I ever could on my own. She’s also the magic behind looks for Katy Perry, Rita Ora, and so many others. But beyond her incredible talent, she’s amazing at sharing her tricks—explaining what she’s using and how. And, as a bonus, she’s truly an 11/10 to hang with.

Tower28 MakeWaves Lengthening + Volumizing Mascara, shade Brown.“If you haven’t heard about the viral make up “contrast trend” then you might not get the value of a great brown mascara. Black can be too harsh on me so I love the shade of brown and the wand on this just separates and fans out the lashes so perfectly, giving them long full and fanned out effect".”
Makeup forever Mini Mini Artist To Go Eyeshadow Palettes “The mini make up forever essentials palette “wherever walnut” is my favorite go to for a fall eye look. I’m this palette is flattering on almost everyone. It has the perfect balance of cool tones that are on trend, but just enough warm tones to make it feel flattering for day and night.”

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Satin Shine Lipstick, shade Candy Chic. “This is the perfect pink for everyone, also I use it sometimes as a cream blush for a touch of pink on the cheeks.”
Dior Forever Glow Star Filter Multi-Use Complexion Enhancing Booster “I love this product for a glow finish on the face, sometimes I like to mix it with foundations too if I need more coverage but want to preserve the glow.”
Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Eyeshadow Palette, shade Moonlight “This is my favorite palette right now, for classic and sexy eyes. So easy to use and versatile for everyday.”
Next up is my go-to gal in NYC, Melissa.
I first met Melissa back in the early 2010s by way of our mutual friend Catherine, and she worked her makeup magic on me for the first time in 2014 for the MoMA Film Benefit (Cate Blanchett was being honored, Halsey performed, everyone famous in attendance was wearing Karl’s Chanel —it was an unforgettable night). Over the past decade, she’s become my go-to for every TV appearance and big events. Melissa has mastered the art of flawless, airbrushed skin—in the best, most natural way possible.

Ciele Tint and Protect tint & PROTECT medium coverage serum foundation with SPF 50+ “I fell in love with this foundation recently. Ciele was developed by pro makeup artist Nikki De Roast and she has made an incredible clean, serum based foundation that hydrates, protects and flexes with your skin all day long with light to medium coverage. A high performance formula that leaves you with a gorgeous bright, lit-from-within finish. SPF 50 Great for dry skin types.”
Danessa Myricks Beauty Colorfix - Multi-Use Eye, Cheek & Lip Waterproof Liquid Pigment, shade Flare “I have a lot of love for Danessa Myricks. Not only is she an incredible educator but she has created a line coveted by both artists & makeup lovers around the world. One of my favorite multi tasking products is her cream-based Colorfix in the shade Flare. This waterproof peach shade looks beautiful on every skin tone and eye color.”
And finally, of course had to ask the friend who is my go-to for makeup suggestions— enter, model / content creator / Co-Fonder of Covey— Emily Didonato!
Whether you know her as the Giorgio Armani gal or the one who schooled us all on the step count for Oura Ring on Tik Tok (she has range!), she’s a gem all around and knows her stuff when it comes to skin, makeup, and hair.

Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil Waterproof Eyebrow Definer, shade Blonde. “I have very fair and sparse eyebrows and have always found filling them in a little tricky, but this brow pencil has always made it easy for me. This is my most repeat purchase product at Sephora. It leaves my brow, looking natural and makes for an easy application.”
HAUS LABS Triclone Skin Tech Hydrating + De-puffing Concealer with Fermented Arnica “I recently tried this concealer and it is totally worth the hype. The consistency and the way that it blends in is so beautiful. I like to keep my skin routine as minimalistic as possible so I will just use this on any red spots or blemishes that I have. It is really natural but is a beautiful finish.”
Clinique Chubby Stick™ Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm shade, Fuller Fig — this rec is technically is no longer available at Sephora but it’s one of Emily’s ride or dies, so I’m including it! “The Internet knows that I am ride or die by this product. It is the most perfect shade for me! I even make make up artists use it on me when I go to work as a model. I am so particular about my lip color. It’s just the most perfect very color and I use it everywhere. My eyes, my cheeks, and my lips! “
As a bonus because the Clinique product isn’t in the sale, I’m adding in this blush she inspired me to buy— Armani Luminous Silk Glow Blush. It’s so good, and no one knows blush like Emily. She tries them all.
