Yesterday in yoga the instructor kept telling us, ‘chin up.’
It was the first time I’ve heard that directive during yoga. All of a sudden, I couldn’t help but notice how often I angle my chin downwards. I gazed around the room and I saw everyone’s eyes and glance shift upwards towards the sky.
Chin up. I needed that. It’s something I keep coming back to since that class. Keep your head high, operate in an abundant field despite anything that may be happening.
The last time I had a moment like this was four years ago during a pilates class in New York. The instructor told all of us to ‘lift through the crown.’ I looked across the room and everyone stood a little bit taller, with more grace. I wrote it down after class in my notes app: “Crown. Lift through the crown.” I held onto it and it was a piece of how I landed on Crown Affair just months later.
I hope these instructors know that these tiny directives can transform the way we move through the world.
I need some more time to marinate on ‘chin up.’ But I don’t think there could be a more apropos saying for macro state we’re in. I like it.
Chin up, take your time, and take care, always.
